Pete Davidson told Ariana Grande he'd marry her the day they met . . . and her reaction was incredibly low-key. (We're assuming he's not referring to their first meeting on Saturday Night Live in 2016, when they were both in relationships.) In a new interview with GQ, the 24-year-old comedian talks about his high-profile engagement, domestic bliss, and getting a hold on adulthood.
"The day I met her, I was like, 'Hey, I'll marry you tomorrow,'" Pete said. The 25-year-old pop star was calling his bluff, so that's when Pete sent her a picture of engagement rings. "I was like, 'Do you like any of these?' She was like, 'Those are my favorite ones,' and I was like, 'Sick.'" For the record, the couple ended up going with a giant pear-shaped engagement ring, worth nearly $100,000.
Since getting engaged after just a few weeks of dating, Pete and Ariana moved into an apartment together in New York City. The multi-million-dollar pad, Pete admits, was purchased by Ariana. Pete said, "She's really sweet. She's like, 'This is our house,' and I'm like, 'You're very nice for saying that. Thank you for letting me stay here.'" Adding, "She's like, 'We're getting married!' And I'm like, 'I know, thank you for letting me stay here.'"
In the few months that they've lived together, Pete joked that they're acquired "six beanbags, but we have no forks." He said, "We're learning how to be adults. We're having a really fun time." Though the couple has yet to setting a wedding date, Pete said it's "definitely going to happen, for sure." Adding, "All I know is that I'm the luckiest guy in the world."
