Every Corner of This Provincial French Town Looks Straight Out of Beauty and the Beast

Have you always wanted to visit Beauty and the Beast's provincial town via a method of transportation that doesn't simply involve popping in your old '90s VHS? Well, you've got options. Though one village has never been pinpointed as the sole inspiration, it's likely that Disney animators were inspired by several in France's Alsace region. Eguisheim, in particular, comes really close.

Located not far from France's border with Germany, Eguisheim is known for its vineyards, quaint curving roads, and distinctive half-timbered architecture. Though tourists do pass through the town — particularly ones traveling along the Alsace Wine Route — it seems to be nowhere near as busy as other cities like Marseille, Nice, and, of course, Paris.

After looking at photos of Eguisheim, we can't imagine why anyone would be left singing to themselves, "There must be more than this provincial life!" (Yes, we're talking about you, Belle.) Take a virtual tour ahead.
