About a year back a woman on Twitter, Lauren Herschel, shared the analogy her doctor used to help explain her grief. The series of tweets have made their rounds across the internet a few times since then, and I’m hoping it continues to circle the web for years to come.

It’s a simple explanation to help people start to understand the grieving process, and while it won’t fix the situation or cure what you are going through, it does exceptionally well as a first step in healing.

What I really liked about this story is how it helped two people communicate their shared grief. Talking with others seems like the obvious or cliche answer sometimes, but it’s also probably the best one too.

Others responded to Lauren’s tweets, sharing how using the Ball in the Box mindset have helped them.
