Turns out Hollywood’s biggest rodeo have a host — and he’s the strong silent type. The little gold man himself is in charge of Oscars 2019.
The gold rush hits full gallop Sunday, and we’re in for one of the most unpredictable awards season finales ever.
Sure, dark horse “Bohemian Rhapsody” rocked its way to a Best Picture nomination alongside critical darlings “Green Book” and “Roma.” Spike Lee finally lassoed his Best Director nod for “BlacKkKlansman.” And yes, Lady Gaga and Glenn Close will indeed duel it out in the Best Actress race.
But who will corral the coveted statuettes? We won’t know until the lights go up in the Dolby Theatre this weekend. Until then, here’s everything you need to know about the 91st annual Academy Awards.
Pre-show runway: The red carpet unfurls fashionably at 4 p.m. on E! with a streaming simulcast on EOnline. The Academy’s official red carpet coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. on ABC with livestreams on Oscar.com and Twitter. (You also can take a walk down Oscar fashion memory lane before the broadcast, from most-Googled gowns to the most expensive borrowed jewels in history.)
Ceremony: The live broadcast launches at 8 p.m. on ABC and streams at ABC.com and Oscar.com, as well as via the Academy’s official social media.
Best Song performers: Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson belts out her “RBG” anthem, “I’ll Fight.” Gillian Welch and David Rawlings supply some twang with “When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings” from “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs,” Bradley Cooper join shis leading Lady Gaga on “Shallow,” and Bette Midler is covering for Emily Blunt on “The Place Where Lost Things Go” from “Mary Poppins Returns.” Plus: Queen, featuring fill-in frontman, Adam Lambert, is the ultimate warmup act.
