I’m just going to come right out and say it; Mike Rowe is an absolute legend. From his time on Dirty Jobs, to his honest and down-to-earth opinions about working hard, to the time he got conned into buying a ton of Girl Guide Cookies from an enterprising young entrepreneur, he should really should have his face on currency. He’s a treasure.
This past President’s Day, he shared a post on his Facebook about a random encounter that he had in a bar with a man drinking a unique cocktail, and it’s such a fantastic story about a national hero that he never expected to meet, but deserves some recognition.
This is the tale of Clint Hill, his signature drink and his time protecting 5 presidents.

Mike makes a good case for talking to strangers in a bar. Just saying.

The perfectly imprinted card with the recipe for “The Clint.”
I’m trying this tonight.

I’m just gonna let Mike’s words speak for themselves.

Just think about that. There’s an active shooter who just assassinated the president, and he just threw himself over Jackie to make sure she didn’t get hit next. I mean, yes, that’s the job in theory. But to have to actually protect against an unknown shooter. That’s heroism.
You can read more about him and his exploits on his website HERE! He’s written a few books about his time in the Service, and they look to be incredibly interesting.

People on Facebook, jumped into the comments to share their positive impressions of Clint.

I can actually picture Mike Rowe as a future President. That’d be pretty awesome.

Clint even joined in on the discussion, but not to talk about his service, but the colour of his drink.

And here’s the Amazon link to his latest book. In fact, he’s written 3 of them with co-author Lisa McCubbin.
But that’s not the end of the story.

The next day, Mike revealed that the book skyrocketed to #2 on Amazon’s Bestseller list.
Why? Because people still care about heroes.

Mike also went on to try to make “The Clint” a real and nationally recognized drink.

Looks like they’ve noticed.
It’s not everyday that you randomly bump into a man who put his life on the line for 5 separate administrations; some of the most groundbreaking and fascinating ones in the nation’s history.
Imagine the things he’s seen, and will never un-see.
Let’s raise a glass for his guy.
