The Post’s “Mueller Madness” bracket was a hit at the White House — and on late-night TV, where hosts scored laughs by mocking Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
President Trump’s spokeswoman tweeted Gotham’s favorite tabloid’s satirical sports-style bracket listing who op-ed editor Sohrab Ahmari said “peddled the most nonsensical” collusion theories.
“How many times do the Democrats and their liberal media allies have to be proven embarrassingly wrong about @realDonaldTrump before they finally accept he’s been a great President?” she wrote.
“Which of the angry and hysterical @realDonaldTrump haters got it most embarrassingly wrong? #YouDecide,” she said.
“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” host seized on her media-shaming attempt after special counsel Robert Mueller cleared her boss of collusion with the Russians.
In his opening monologue on the CBS show, where he called Sanders “Huck-a-buck,” he cited her “hashatg ‘you decide’ — it is also the hashtag Robert Mueller used regarding the obstruction charge.”
“As soon as I saw this jokey bracket full of media personalities Huckabee wants to smear … I knew it was a waste of my time until I realized … I made it to the big dance,” the funnyman and avowed Trump critic declared, referring to his No. 3 spot.
“I’m a conference champ, baby!” he shouted as the audience roared.
Colbert read the quote next to his picture in the bracket that said: “No collusion is Trump’s ‘aloha.’ It means both ‘hello’ and ‘I’m guilty.’ Aloha!”
“Up until about 48 hours ago, that was a solid joke,” he quipped.
He also took a shot at John Oliver, who was fourth seed.
“Sorry, John, it looks like I am ranked higher in the fake New York Post bracket. I guess you will have to content yourself with all those Emmys, sucker!” he said.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Kimmel — who got a No. 5 seed — joked on his ABC show that “it is amazing that (Sanders) has time for this in the middle of a national emergency down at the border.”
“Poor Sarah Sanders. She’s probably just a nice, dumb lady who is the only one who would take this job. She has to constantly defend nonsense, and now she finally has a chance to fire back, and this is how she does it, with a wacky Mueller Madness bracket,” he said, referring to her as “Sarah Huckabilly.”
“As the president would say, SAD!” Kimmel joked.
