It's not often that Jennifer Aniston takes on a role that makes us kind of hate her a little bit, but Dumplin' seems to be her chance to change that.
The Office Christmas Party actress stars in the upcoming Netflix dramedy, based on the New York Times bestselling book by Julie Murphy, which follows an outspoken, curvy, Dolly Parton-obsessed teenager named Willowdean (Danielle Macdonald) as she navigates life under the rule of her overbearing pageant queen mother (Aniston) in small town Texas. In an act of protest against her mother's never-ending stream of pageants and disapproval, Will decides to enter her mother's local Miss Teen Blue Bonnet competition, which in turn encourages other contestants in town to do the same. Macdonald's comedic timing as she delivers lines like "I'm not the Joan of Arc of fat girls" already has us hooked.
The screenplay for Dumplin' was adapted by Kristin Hahn, and the film is directed by Anne Fletcher (27 Dresses, Hot Pursuit). Watch the hilarious trailer above before it hits Netflix and select theaters on Dec. 7.
