Yesterday afternoon it appeared likely that Seth Ringley and his crew at Triple G Relief were going to pack up and ship out of Mexico Beach, FL, where they’d been serving hurricane victims and first responders warm meals for over a week. With 100% of structures affected, no shelter remains; residents are either sleeping on the ground or in a tent.

Without food, the situation would deteriorate from bad to catastrophic. Out of funds and out of food Seth turned to theCHIVE community yesterday. And you responded.

Seth wanted me to convey a message to the Chive community…

“My brother and I used to visit Mexico Beach when we were kids, our family had been vacationing there for generations. Back then it was nicknamed ‘Mayberry’ on the water’. After Hurricane Michael it became ground zero. We knew we had to help but given that all the structures and homes were destroyed we also knew it would be extremely challenging.”

“Our little camp is nicknamed ‘Happy Tummies’ and all the residents and first responders know this is where they can find a hot plate of food. But the need is overwhelming, the people here are without home, power, water, and funds were going fast. If we leave, they could soon be without food. We’d raised a couple thousand dollars on GoFundMe page and it was long gone. We’d reached our breaking point.”

“Then John posted about us in the DAR and the Chivers were donating $1,000 a minute! My email filled up with people who wanted to volunteer, which we badly needed. John never even mentioned volunteers, but the Chivers here in Florida go above and beyond.

We owe each and every Chiver who donated our deepest gratitude. You have made it possible for us to stay here and help, and you’ve provided extra hands to provide that help.

Thank you, you have managed to break through the noise and negativity out there to do what a community must do first and always – feed the hungry.”

– Seth Ringley

You are all a light. The Chivers have more than earned their stripes as a community who will rise up in the darkest hour. And you’ve done it again. Thank you. We are less than $3,000 away from the goal now, and we’ve come a long way, but it’s time for the late night Chivers to take it home. Every $5 you donate pays for a warm meal. So let’s finish this, shall we?

Donate right here!

Contact Seth directly here.

KCCO and thank you,

– John

(UPDATE: $30,000 goal hit!!!! HUGE)

*A big thanks to Jen Holub at Chive Charities for helping me on with this. She keeps me in line. I invite everybody to explore becoming a bronze, silver, gold, or green member right here! This small group of heroes is changing the world.

And congrats to Joshua, don’t worry he’s getting his own post shortly.
