At some point in almost all our lives we have an object of desire that we wholeheartedly believe we can’t live without. Think Princess Vespa and her Industrial Strength Hairdryer from ‘Spaceballs’.

Well, for one adorable Chihuahua named Jaxon, that article of obsession happened to be a plush green alligator or “Greenie.” And every time Jaxon would tear through her little greenie (out of love, obviously) his owner Kelli Brown would replace it with a new one. But as life has a way of humbling us, reminding us that nothing lasts forever, so too did the store that carried the greenie –“Greenie” was officially discontinued.

Kelli, the everloving parent, knew not just any toy would suffice and explained that the alligator was very important to Jaxon, “He was adopted from our local shelter on December 8, 2014, and I put one of these toys in his stocking the first year we had him (our other dog got the red version — which was a dragon), and this has just always been the only toy he’s ever played with!”

Quickly, people everywhere were asking around trying to procure this toy.

The Kentucky native called on the internet in a moment of desperation tweeting directly at the supplier PetSmart. As we know, sometimes the internet can be a magical place. Quickly a PetSmart employee in Texas, Kendyl Kercho, saw the social request on Twitter and shared it with her employee Facebook group as well as searched the aisles of her own store.

An extensive search of all the chain’s stores showed that Jaxon’s prized possession was available in a different state. Mission accomplished. “I actually squeaked audibly when I found the clearance toy bin in the back where they were tucked away,” Kercho said. “I immediately told my manager, ‘These are the toys I’ve been looking for for my Chihuahua friend in Kentucky!’”

Of course, just to go one step further, Kendyl thought ahead and got spares for Jaxon.

And once again, for Jaxon, all was right with the world.
