Some options I've been throwing around: he had to go deep undercover for a case (which will definitely piss all of us off — how can you put our Jane through that?!?!?!); this is his twin brother; or he is actually one of those robot things from Black Mirror that you can order to look exactly like your dead husband.

In interest of full disclosure: I was very much Team Michael (come on, Rafael is hot and wonderful but can also be a very shitty boyfriend) but after his death, I became a happy member of Team Rafael. But now that Michael's back? I DON'T KNOW.
