Looks like Henry Cavill is putting away his Superman cape.

Studio insiders have told The Hollywood Reporter that Cavill is parting ways with the Man of Steel franchise. Neither side has confirmed the split, but sources say that plans for Cavill to play a Superman cameo in “Shazam!” starring Zachary Levi have fallen through due to scheduling conflicts.

“Superman is like James Bond, and after a certain run you have to look at new actors,” a studio source told The Hollywood Reporter.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros., which produces the Super Man franchise, is focusing on a Supergirl movie that features a teen heroine instead.

“There’s a recognition that some parts of the previous [Superman] movies didn’t work,” a studio insider said. Meanwhile, another insider said the studio is looking to “reset” the DC universe.

Cavill recently signed on a new Netflix show “The Witcher.” According to Deadline, Warner Bros. is considering Michael B. Jordan to play Superman.
