The first footage from the final season of “Game of Thrones” has been revealed — and it’s a tense-looking hug between Jon (Kit Harington) and Sansa (Sophie Turner).
On Sunday night, HBO released a video montage of upcoming shows. While most of the “Game of Thrones” footage was recycled from Season 7, the Jon and Sansa hug is new. It’s a little over one minute into the clip and it’s clearly at Winterfell. While they hug, Sansa gives the stink eye over Jon’s shoulder at some who’s off-camera.
The most likely contender is Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), since Jon was last seen sailing to Winterfell with her at the end of Season 7.
Since she wants the Iron Throne and she’s a fire-happy Targaryen (and Jon’s awkwardly incestuous new girlfriend — remember, she’s his aunt) Sansa has good reason to be skeptical of Jon’s new alliance with her.
Sansa’s first husband Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) is also in their company, so he’s another possibility to be on the receiving end of her look. But since he and Sansa have mutual respect, Daenerys is more likely.
The show’s eighth and final season will air at an unspecified date in 2019.
