Fans won’t stop giving Armie Hammer Peaches

The next time you see an Armie Hammer look-alike on the subway, it might be the real deal. The “Call Me By Your Name” actor is making his Broadway debut in “Straight White Men,” and on CBS’s “Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” the California native confesses he loves riding the subway.

“I [used to not] like this place, it’s too busy and hectic,” he explains. “But now that I’m here for this [play] and I love it. I do ride the subway, I’ve got a metro card in my pocket.”

Also in his pocket? Peaches. The fruit plays a pivotal role in an erotic scene in “Call Me By Your Name,” and Hammer says fans of the film (and book) are coming to his play in droves.

“I get handed at least a peach or two at every stage door.”

During his New York soujourn, he says his “Call Me By Your Name” onscreen lover turned real life friend, Timothee Chalamet, has been giving him advice. Chalamet, a native New Yorker, is filming a movie in London now, but “I was in the middle of a street fair and we were face timing each other,” he says.

“Straight White Men” runs from July 31 through September 9th.
