We were driving along the highway when a truck came along the other side of the side of the road. Because it was raining and the truck was going quite fast they slammed into our car tipping it upside down. I broke my back while luckily my sister, mother and step dad survived with minor injuries. I was rushed to hospital and put in a induced coma for 3 weeks. I became a quadriplegic.” 3Pexels “During the 7 months that I was in hospital and then 3 months of in and out check ups and rehab one of the nurses helped me to write poems. I am not prepared to release them all yet but here are a few. I will release more when I am prepared to do so.” 4Matilda Gauci “In the Hospital” 5Matilda Gauci “Thank You” 6Matilda Gauci “The Bullies” 7Matilda Gauci “Being Me” Keep writing, Tilly!
